TO A LITERARY MORNING

ON WEDNESDAY, 26TH MARCH 2025

AT THE CRESWICK TOWN HALL. WATER STREET,

 STARTING AT 11.00am

 

The talk will be given by DAVID RATHGEN, AUTHOR OF

“NO PLACE QUITE LIKE IT :  The family history of Walter Withers and Fanny Finn”

 

Walter Withers taught art at the Creswick School of Mines in 1896 and assisted the Lindsay brothers, Percy and Lionel in their careers.  He was also a teacher at the Ballarat School of Mines as well as several private Melbourne schools.

 

David will talk about Walter’s early life in England and about his journey to Australia and his career as a successful artist.

This talk will be of interest to those keen on history as well as art and literature.

David will have copies of his book for sale.    Tea and coffee will also be available for a small donation.
